We study tree-level solutions to heterotic string theory in which the number of spacetime dimensions 10+n changes dynamically due to closed string tachyon condensation. Taking the large-n limit, we compute the amount by which the dilaton gradient Φ,X0 changes during the condensation process. We extend the relation between instanton and monopole solutions of the selfduality equations in SU (2) gauge theory to noncommutative space-times. Using this approach we construct a noncommutative version of the Wu-Yang monopole satisfying the selfduality (Bogomol'nyi) equations in noncommutative U (2) Yang-Mills-Higgs theory.
